Lifeguards Meet with Council Member Chito Vela
Today Barton Springs lifeguard Scott Cobb, Barton Springs Head Lifeguard Keegan Collums and Aquatics North District Supervisor Savannah Parks met with Austin City Council Member Chito Vela and his General Counsel Ramey Ko to discuss a proposal from lifeguards to end the lifeguard shortage by raising the living wage to $22 and improving benefits for lifeguards.
In addition to a $22 living wage, suggestions for benefits improvements included:
Transitioning some lifeguards to “regular” employment status from “temporary”
Offering Holiday Pay and Paid Time Off for all lifeguards.
Longevity Pay
